Based at Etchingham, East Sussex in the heart of one of the major fruit growing areas in England. Fruco plc is a leading independent importer and distributor of fresh produce throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. The geographical situation of the company’s head office is ideal being within easy reach of the major fruit ports of Tilbury, Sheerness, Dover and Portsmouth. The main airports of Gatwick & Heathrow are a short distance away easily accessed by the M25 London Orbital Link which is only 30 minutes drive from the company’s head office.

The Company was formed in 1975 by the current chairman Richard Barnes (pictured above). Over the last 25 years Fruco plc has invested and prospered. In 1983 Richard Barnes employed the services of Simon Lane, the current Managing Director, and in the years to follow they expanded the company to become one of the leaders in fresh produce marketing. Both Richard and Simon are still responsible for the day to day trading activities of the company.

The Directors continually monitor this in order to maintain and improve the standards required by an increasingly demanding industry.
